A silver filigree double ended emery. c1820A Georgian sewing accessory an emery filled cushion used to sharpen the needle with a silver filigree cover. c1820. Condition The filigree is in excellent order but the silk covers over the ends have disintegrated however the cushions themselves are intact and not leaking emery. Just over 2. 5cm in length 1. 5cm in diameter. Stock no. LN28

Sheffield (founded 1810)

The pearl is cut with horizontal lines and the silver spring cover with triple diagonals

There are many relics from this ship to be found in antique shops-sewing tools

The wood is very dark possibly ebony or an ebonized native wood

15cm long from the end of the mouthpiece to the catch on the silver cover

5 cm at the front

There are no silver marks that I can find but it tests to sterling silver

Exact date unknown but modern versions aren't lead
