Central motif is the breast star of the Order of the Star of India, encircled by a stylised collar chain and rope border. Date & marks: Backstamped Wedgwood & Co., with a British Registry mark dated 20 December 1861. The Order of the Star of India was instituted on 25 June 1861, and this pattern was produced to commemorate it. Historical context: Pieces in this pattern were offered through the Army & Navy
